“Motorcycles should be banned! They’re noisy, dirty and dangerous!” The rant of a peevish maiden aunt? No, it’s the view of Transport for London. At a recent meeting which I attended, TfL revealed policies for buses, lorries, coaches, cars, taxis, Uber, white vans, blue vans, underground trains, overground trains and trams; but their 'policy' on bikes and scooters is entirely negative. While MAG and other pro-bike bodies do their best, we have no concerted voice making it clear that we pollute less, consume less fuel, and are the answer to the capital's problems. The time has come for a concerted campaign to force TfL to acknowledge that bicycles are not the only two-wheelers to be encouraged?
