Reading, cooking, swimming, repeat. That’s the sum total of my summer holidays planned. The beach might change – perhaps a little tootle down the coast to see my parents and a couple of friends – as will the reading material, but the basic format won’t. For me, that’s the beauty of summer holidays. I don’t tend to plan anything in particular, just letting the long, lazy days roll on and on. What day is it? The only thing I’ve realised I’m missing is a hammock. ‘Monarch’ table DESIGNER: Nathan Goldsworthy of Goldsworthy Studio What do you think about when designing an outdoor table? “The material is certainly the main challenge, but there is a definite visual shift that takes place – it’s surprising how pieces can look out of place when they move outdoors,” says Auckland- based designer Nathan. Their designs are guided by simple geometrical forms and have many references to their native land. They achieved worldwide renown with ‘D.E.’, a collection of attractive desk items. When the Panel visited Taras Misko and Alison Cook, and their children, Saskia, 10, and Rafael, 2, back in October last year, they were mid-way through a renovation of their double-fronted, Federation-style bungalow in Sydney’s inner west.
