GEAR AID “I never thought that it would happen to me,” says Fran Pearson. “I went from feeling very safe and secure, following my life plan, to living on benefits in social housing.”
Fran is the founder of Kitsquad, a charity which collects outdoor gear from people who have a surplus and distributes it to people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it. “Most charities, when you dig into it, are founded by people who have suffered from the very thing they’re campaigning about,” she says, “and that’s just the same for me.”
