Ultimately there were 15 finishers and everyone survived the inaugural R2AK “Race to Alaska,” with skipper Al Hughes and Team Elsie Piddock collecting the $10,000 prize (nailed to a tree no less) by covering the 750-mile route from Port Townsend, Washington, to Ketchikan, Alaska, aboard their F-25c trimaran in just eight days.
