A twin always knows what you want to hear! Laying in my hospital bed, I heard them before I could see them. ‘Merry Christmas!’ my twin sister Katie and her daughters Emmie, 9, and Hollie, 5, cheered, bundling onto the ward.
Cheeks rosy from the cold, their arms were full of gifts and they had smiles on their faces.
‘Tell me what Father Christmas brought you!’ said as the girls clambered onto my bed.
As they chattered away, I realised that I was smiling, too.
Even though, for me, this Christmas wasn’t a very happy one...
