Gifted and Talented Class Ideas If you’ve been given a GATE class and need some direction on what to do during the time, try implementing some of the ideas included in this packet. With gifted students, choice is important. Consider allowing your students to help decide how your time will be spent. This resource will provide ideas to help. Adapt them to fit the needs of your own students, and have fun! Idea 1 ~ Dramatic Production Allow your students to use a fairytale as a springboard to write their own dramatic production. This challenge is low prep and tons of fun, but can get MESSY! Your students will use ingredients to try and create a bubbling witch’s brew. I recommend that you have your students work in small groups (2-H students each) and have a station for each set of H-8 students. Before Starting Talk about lab safety. Because the students will be mixing ingredients, discuss with them the importance of handling the materials. All of these ingredients are safe but should not be ingested. If they have a spill, they should clean it up or ask for help since someone could slip on a wet spot.
