I love Maria Shriver. I follow her regularly (@mariashriver and @ShriverReport), and the work she's doing on behalf of women and girls is especially inspiring. Her daily tweets always include fact-based reporting (hallelujah!) on what needs to change to make the world a more equitable and peaceful place. But I do take issue with a recent tweet that linked to an article titled "50 Things Every Girl Needs to Hear," specifically #10: "Don't try and look like the women you see in magazines. Even they don't look like that." I feel that the debate over retouching has pretty much saturated the Twitterverse by now, and that it's the rare magazine consumer who doesn't know that all magazines retouch their images, whether cars, books, or strudel, as well as human beings.…
