Cats respond most readily to names that end in an “ee” sound, which naturally is vocalized in a higher intonation. Studies show that cats respond to their name much better if the name terminates in a high-pitched sound. For example, Lancelot ends on a low sound. He’s much less likely to respond to that than if we call him Lancey. Our cover cats are called, Ham and Cheese. I’m not surprised if their pawrent Brenda Wang may have instinctively called to them as Hammey and Cheesy. After all, Wang is a self-proclaimed cat whisperer and currently living her best life as owner of a cat hotel, The Luxe Meownor.
