Extortion accused appears in court
CHANELLE LUTCHMAN A SHAKASKRAAL resident, who was arrested two years after a charge of extortion was opened against him, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
Brandon Moodley, 27, who was arrested in Lenasia, Johannesburg, on Friday, is linked to two high-profile kidnapping cases.
It is alleged that in August 2018, Moodley contacted Raylene Louw, whose son Miguel, 9, was missing at the time.
Moodley allegedly claimed he knew of the child’s whereabouts.
According to a source, he contacted Louw via social media and subsequently called her several times claiming he had information.
It is alleged he wanted R10000 in return.
Louw instead opened a charge of extortion against him.
