WENDY TARPLEEMORRIS’S daughter Hannah was just four when she was diagnosed with cancer. Losing her hair during treatment was distressing, so her parents set out to find her a real hair wig. It took a lot of effort, but when they did, it made all the difference. Sadly, Hannah died a year later, in 2005. Her school friends raised money in her memory, and when they were asked how they should spend it, her parents decided to buy a wig for another child. “It snowballed from there,” says Wendy. Bought for me over 20 years ago at our local coffee shop by my now ex-husband, this delightful cartoon-like image of a polar bear wearing a green scarf flapping in the breeze caught my eye as soon as I’d entered the shop.
