On 25 May 1995, a brand new science fiction and fantasy magazine landed on planet Earth. Twenty years later, SFX is still on a mission to explore strange new worlds in movies, TV, books, comics, games and pretty much anywhere else that’s touched by the fantastical.
Two decades is a long old jaunt in anyone’s money. Just comparing SFX with my own life, since it launched I’ve sat GCSEs and A-levels, been to university, left home, got my first job, bought a house, got married, had a child – basically, my biggest formative experiences have all taken place in a world where SFX has existed. Yep, 20 years is a very big deal.
Across that epic timescale, the mag has had front row seats to watch the genre landscape change…
