Having lived in two new-build houses, Helen Hall didn’t have any experience of restoring a period property, but when one caught her eye, that didn’t put her off. ‘An alert came in from Rightmove and as soon as I saw the house, I knew we had to have it,’ says Helen. ‘I’d always had a romantic vision of living in a house with lots of space for the kids to run around in. We had three small children, two in nappies, and our house wasn’t even on the market, so it was the worst time to move, but our hearts were convinced.’
