When he was a boy, growing up in Cape Town’s Langa township, Temba Bavuma wanted to play professional football. He even had a trial with local outfit, Ajax Cape Town. But there was a catch: he went to a high school that didn’t offer the sport. St David’s, a Catholic boys’ school in northern Johannesburg, played only rugby and cricket.
