Presenting the five-part series, palaeoanthropologist Ella Al-Shamahi visits archaeological sites across the world to unveil new DNA and fossil discoveries that showcase how we coexisted alongside, and eventually outlived, other human species.
‘We portray ourselves as the pinnacle of human evolution, but we were the underdog,’ says Al-Shamahi. ‘Many species were around at the same time, and yet, somehow, we’re the only ones left. And we’re not just surviving, we’re thriving. How did we do that?’
