Auctioneers Symonds & Sampson conducted a sale at Buckholt Farm, near Salisbury, in Wiltshire, on March 25th, on behalf of Michael Matthews who has sold his farm.
The auction included the farm’s main tractors and farm implements, plus the vendor’s collection of interesting crawlers and military vehicles, and attracted plenty of interest from bidders.
It was certainly unusual to see a trio of crawlers being offered at a farm sale, and these included two very clean and original, grade 3 Caterpillars, both of which required work on their donkey engines. The 1940 D2, with 50in tracks, sold for £2,885, while the 1941 D4 with 60in tracks, made £1,835.
