The US launched air attacks against targets in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, on 3 January. The targets included military bases, and the action was ordered by US President Donald Trump. After the attacks, US armed forces captured Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and flew them out of Venezuela. They were taken to a US ship and then transported to New York in the US.
