Josh Henges In 2022, Josh Henges was named the first-ever homelessness prevention coordinator for Kansas City, Missouri. In the two years since, he has managed a number of major projects, including the development of a five-step strategy to fight housing insecurity, securing funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for youth homelessness services, developing an extreme weather plan for unhoused folks, and more. Beyond all of these initiatives, however, is daily education. The internet is littered with AI-generated news clips, commercials, artwork, and articles written entirely by ChatGPT (don’t worry, this one was written by a human). In an age where AI is experiencing unprecedented growth — and rapid dissemination — government agencies are stepping up to place regulations on AI content, especially in the political sphere. Data Shows: An Active High School Civics Education Is Linked To Higher Voting Rates In May 2023, third graders in Massachusetts schools participated in mock elections led by the local election commission, in which they made important decisions (like what dog breed is their favorite), according to The Standard Times. The poll workers at the mock election were 18-year-old high school students who once had the same experience growing up. These small, local initiatives are intended to immerse young people in the democratic process from a young age; you might remember your own mock elections from grade school! This is key to building empathy and reciprocity in a conversation.
