Originally from the Loire Valley and Bordeaux, this varietal has migrated all over the world largely due to the distinctive style of wines it creates. Sauvignon Blanc is synonymous with light, fruity white wines and often serves as an introduction to wine drinking. Its wines usually sit on the lower rungs of the taste evolution ladder. This grape, the sister of Cabernet Sauvignon, shuns oak, seeking to reveal its full potential, particularly in terms of its aromas. These often inelude tropical fruit (mango, papaya or passion fruit), citrus (orange, mandarin, lime) and aromatic herbs (mint, fennel and lavender).
