Sotheby’s London sale of wines direct from Château Lynch-Bages surpassed its pre-sale estimate, achieving a total of £877,826 ($1,157,589), with all of the 342 lots offered finding buyers. Global interest in the sale attracted bids from collectors across Europe, the Americas and Asia.
The sale presented a selection of historic vintages dating back to 1936, directly from the cellars of the Château. A bespoke En Primeur barrel of 2020 Lynch-Bages - to be bottled in formats of the winning bidder’s choice, with personalised labels, and presented together with the opportunity to visit Lynch-Bages for a tour of the new winery, followed by dinner with the Cazes family, owners of the Château since 1939 - drew intense interest, selling for £43,750 ($57,690), beyond the pre-sale estimate of £24,000-35,000.
