rodding event Goldstrom's Classic Car Show The Annual Goldstrom's Classic Car Show was held November 5, 2022, the Saturday after the SEMA Show, at the Nostalgia Street Rods facility, which is located close to the Las Vegas Raider's Allegiant stadium. The show draws all types of custom cars, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Speedway Children's Charities in Las Vegas. Sheri Goldstrom heads up the family museum and charity car shows which happen twice a year, along with the family construction business. redding event SEMA 2022 The Specialty Equipment Manufacturing Association continues to produce the world's largest trade show, attracting 160,000 attendees from all over the world. The annual show originated in 1967 in the concourse under Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and has been in Las Vegas since 1977 at the ever-expanding Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC.) This year's spectacular encompassed the entire LVCC inside and out and featured over 1,800 exhibitors and hundreds of show cars and trucks. The show had been touted as a “trade only” event since its inception, but this year spectators could purchase tickets for Friday, the last day of the four-day show. Jay's hot rod obsession began when he was introduced to local hot rodder and mentor, Mark Conforth. In his early teens, Jay would spend much time hanging around Mark's Auto Body Shop, which always had multiple cars and many car projects in the works. Jay found himself absorbing all the information and knowledge he could. After his marriage and purchasing a home, Jay and his wife were walking in their neighborhood; he noticed a mint 1962 Impala SS 409 convertible, and next to it was a 1930 Ford Model A which was disassembled in the late sixties. When Rodding USA was conceived in 2013, I knew that excellent photography would be the key to this all-new publication. While looking for cars for features, I located a 1933 Ford coupe from Casa Grande, Arizona, halfway between Tucson and Phoenix. I figured this was the perfect car for the Premier Issue since it was the 80th Anniversary of 1933 automobiles. Towards the end of the photo shoot, as the sun began to set, the desert trees and hills lit up in golden hues, and I thought this would be an excellent shot for the cover. Then, as I was editing the photos, I decided the car might work as a wrap-around cover, and needless to say, it did. The wrap-around cover was only planned to be a one-time experiment…

Clarence Oliver of Boerne, Texas, is the new owner of this stunning 50s hot rod that had been in storage for 50-plus years until Dave Gray of Midland, Michigan, found, purchased, and restored it to its current condition. Clarence purchased it from Dave in February 2022. But before we get into the rebuilding of this now stunning 1932 Ford sedan, we have to delve into its past. Twenty-five years ago, Gary Meadors and his Goodguys company took a chance to bring the first major custom car show to Arizona, and it has been an overwhelming success. Cars and owners come from across the U.S. to participate in the Goodguys Southwest Nationals, which has become one of the go-to events in the country. It has been so successful that they added an event in the spring years ago. This year's event took place from November 18-20 at the Westworld complex in North Scottsdale. The weather was cool in the morning, turning warm and beautiful in the afternoon. HOT RODDING ROOTS Gober Sosebee is one of the many legendary race car drivers coming out of North Georgia's hills in the 40 and early 50s. He started his racing career on the many dirt tracks of North Georgia. His home base where was in Dawsonville. Besides being a racer, Gober ran a paving contracting company. Gober bought his ‘39 Ford coupe off a used car lot in Atlanta in 1947. Gober ran his coupe around the dirt tracks of Georgia before making his first of four appearances at the four-mile Daytona Beach course in 1949. He didn't make very many laps before flipping the car in turn four. He returned to the beach in 1950 and qualified on the pole for the Modified race at a speed of 114.43mph.…

In 2018 my wife Dana and I were living in a small town just outside of Atlanta, GA, when we spotted a young couple driving a 50's era pickup truck. When Powermaster introduced their PowerGEN, an alternator disguised as a vintage generator, it was a blessing for most traditional hot rodders. The unit provided vintage hot rod looks with the reliability and output of a modern alternator, so you could count on no dim headlights at an idle and even power up an electric fuel pump, fan, or A/C system without worrying about the charging system. roddi event 30th Mooneyes Yokohama Back in 1987, when Mooneyes Japan started their outdoor Street Car Nationals in Odaiba, Tokyo, it was the first time anyone had mixed both Japanese- and Americanbased customized vehicles into one car show. Then, in 1992, they created the indoor Mooneyes Hot Rod Custom Show when the newly-built Yokohama Convention Center opened and, 30 years later, both shows are still going strong, and they are the largest custom car shows in the country. By the numbers, the event is impressive. Inside the 217,000 sq. ft. exhibit hall are 300 custom cars, 500 custom motorcycles, and 250 vendors selling their wares alongside a handful of live bands playing on stage while 20,000+ spectators flow through the doors. At the impressionable age of 10, Mike Cooper attended the NSRA event in Memphis, where the hot rod bug bit him pretty hard. Unable to fight off the effects of that bite, he has built or owned several hot rods. Among several Fords of 1932 vintage (roadsters, coupes, sedans, and trucks), he has also had a 1927 Model T, a 1931 Model A, a 1936 three-window coupe, multiple F100s, along with a 1971 Chevelle, a 1970 Z28, and a 1972 C10 for good measure.
