THE future of Class 31s owned by Harry Needle Railroad Company is uncertain, as the company looks to evaluate its traction assets.
Speaking exclusively to RAIL , HNRC Managing Director Harry Needle said he would be assessing the business in the wake of Brexit and the downturn in the freight market, as well as assessing the supply of locomotives by freight operating companies (FOCs) for possessions. He admitted planned hire of the veteran Type 2s to FOCs was now on hold.
HNRC owns 31235/255/285,31459/465. Two were bought from preservation (31235/255), two from Network Rail (31285, 31465), and one from Rail Vehicle Engineering Ltd, now LORAM UK (31459). All are currently stored.
