The calls for reflection and a change of direction, in the face of the destruction of Nature, have sounded for many years now, but the human being of today, with a few laudable exceptions, ignores the warnings. His focus is only economic and technological ‘progress’ and ‘development’. He exploits and maltreats the land, plunders Nature using all the technical means at his disposal to fulfil his desires, and boasts of his immense progress compared to his ancestors, whom he contemptuously regards as backward and unsophisticated.
Everything that he does is done in the name of progress and for the sake of a humanity which wishes only to dominate. The smell of petrol or diesel has become the incense of the industrial age, whose titans worship the power of the machine.…
