The sport of boing, boing, boing! Powerbocking is one of the most extreme sports on the planet and is named after German inventor Alexander Böck. Using stilts fitted with fibreglass springs, powerbockers can run at speeds of 30 km/h and leap over three metres into the air, all while performing the most amazing flips and tricks. The Grand Canyon Skywalk is in Arizona, USA. Visitors who are brave enough to walk on it can look down through its glass floor and see the Colorado River 1.5 kilometres below their feet. Engineers began building the Skywalk in October 2004, and it opened to the public on March 28, 2007. It is a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge (a cantilever bridge is a bridge that is only supported on one end) which extends over 20 metres past the edge of the Grand Canyon wall. It is made from more than 450 tonnes of steel and 38 tonnes of glass.
