For as long as I can remember, my family has been a Sunrise household. All the big news stories, from the Beaconsfield mining disaster to the Lindt Café siege, were brought to us by the inimitable David ‘Kochie’ Koch. So it’s with sadness that we farewell Kochie this week after more than 20 years in the top job, as he goes on to enjoy a well-earned retirement with his lovely wife, Libby. NEWS Benedict Cumberbatch was the victim of a scary home invasion, according to newly released court documents. The British actor, his wife Sophie Hunter, and their three young sons were at their London residence when former chef Jack Bissell forced his way onto the property. After kicking through the front iron gate, Bissell wielded a fish knife and shouted: “I know you’ve moved here, I hope it burns down.” Bissell also caused other damage to the property’s garden and intercom. It is unclear why the former Beaumont Hotel employee targeted Benedict, 46, and Bissell offered no explanation in his defence. A Gold Coast man had a narrow escape from a crocodile attack while snorkelling off Cape York in Far North Queensland. Marcus McGowan was enjoying a day in the water last week with his wife and a group of friends when the reptile pounced. “I was attacked from behind by a saltwater crocodile which got its jaws around my head,” he said. “I thought it was a shark but when I reached up, I realised it was a crocodile.
