Engineer who’s played a part in no less than 49 riders’ and constructors’ titles, across 125GP, 250GP, MotoGP and WSB, with Aprilia and Ducati.
Gigi Dall’Igna is already in the pantheon of Italian motorcycle engineering greats, along with Fabio Taglioni, Ducati’s first genius engineer, Piero Remor, who guided Gilera and then MV to world-title glory, and Carlo Guzzi, whose brilliance took Moto Guzzi to their first Isle of Man TT victories.
The 55-year-old has won world titles across the sport, from engineering the Aprilia two-strokes that won some of the company’s first world championships in the 1990s, to designing Aprilia’s RSV4 superbike, winner of three WSB titles, and creating Ducati’s current Desmosedici MotoGP bike, winner of the last two constructors titles.…
