Thanks to
macOS Sierra, losing work should largely become a thing of the past. Barring catastrophic drive failure, you need no longer worry about things going wrong. And it’s all thanks to Auto Save and Versions. Provided you’re using an app that supports these two features, Sierra automatically saves your work, enabling you either to jump back to an older version of a file, or to recover part of it.
The first thing to know is that not all your apps will work with Auto Save and Versions, although many now do, particularly Apple’s own apps such as Numbers, Pages, Keynote, and Preview.
