Clara, 11 months old, is big. She’s as big as a house. She is really, really large. She is bigger, or at least heavier, than either 98 or 99 percent of the population, according to her latest Plunket charts. I don’t know what part I’ve played in that extraordinary weight gain but it’s got to be something, doesn’t it? The day I sat in the Glen Eden Plunket rooms and listened to the nurse say, over and over, “She’s a big baby” was one of the proudest days of my life as a parent, and maybe my life as a whole.
