Britten meets Cabaret
Benjamin Britten composed his four cabaret songs between the late 1930s and early 1940s, but the cycle wasn’t published until 1980. By turns witty, bittersweet and moving, with influences of Cole Porter, they highlight a lighter side to Britten’s collaboration with poet WH Auden.
