The Shape of Things: Still Life in Britain at Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, is the first major exhibition to consider the enduring theme of still life in British art. The exhibition charts this history of British art through the lens of still life, through movements including post impressionism, neo-romanticism, surrealism, abstraction, pop and conceptual art, and encourages vistors to think about life’s challenges facing artists in the past as well as in their own lifetime.
About 150 works will be on display by around 100 artists, including Vanessa Bell, Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Henry Moore, Eric Ravilious, Walter Sickert, Rachel Whiteread and Maggi Hambling.
The Shape of Things: Still Life in Britain continues at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, until 20 October. For more information visit www.pallant.org.uk…
