1. Look for the potential Our three-bedroom Edwardian house in North London was in a terrible state when we bought it. The previous tenant had just lived in what is now the living room and the rest of the house was in complete disrepair. I’m a criminal barrister, and the reality is that false allegations ARE made, for a number of different reasons, and those that turn out to be untrue can ruin lives. There’s no doubt we need to improve how allegations are investigated, but in my view, what’s far more damaging is the myth perpetuated by the Victims’ Commissioner that if victims don’t give their phone to police, their allegation won’t be investigated. Risotto is my ultimate comfort cooking dish. I invariably make it with whatever I have in the cupboards, to skip a trip to the shops. Tinned or frozen veg, perhaps dried mushrooms.
