For many, surfing isn’t a hobby, but a way of life. And the way surfers live has become something of a personal obsession for interior designer Nina Freudenberger. Born in Munich and raised in New York, she developed a fascination with surf culture after relocating to Venice, California, though her new coffee table book, Surf Shacks , takes her far further than the beaches of Los Angeles.
Along with photographer Brittany Ambridge, Freudenberger travelled to the homes of 20 surf enthusiasts around the world, from sophisticated seaside spaces in Mexico to New York, Australia, Malibu and beyond, to find out not only how the owners decorated their abodes, but what inspired them to make the choices they have.
