This month’s Rod Builders’ Workshop has taken a CG3-OS463, labelled as a 7’ 10-25lb offshore rod, and rolled into a multi facet 7’ baitcast rod. Built for casting glidebait, topwater, and plastics at dusky flathead in the estuary and spinnerbait, chatterbait, topwater, glide and swimbaits at Murray cod over the western divide.
I have no doubt it could be used for throwing plastics, vibes and hardbodies at mulloway, threadfin salmon and barramundi in the north. This blank and build really is a versatile outfit with a light enough tip for sensitivity and plenty grunt down low to apply some stopping power if needed.
