THE BASICS
The paleo diet (sometimes called the Caveman Diet) is designed to resemble how Palaeolithic hunter-gatherers ate thousands of years ago.
There are many variations of paleo, but the basic idea is to avoid grains, legumes, processed foods and most sources of dairy, and focus on healthy, wholefoods. Your diet will include grass-fed meat, seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, nuts and seeds, and certain oils such as coconut, avocado and olive oils.
While they’re very similar, paleo is slightly more flexible than the keto diet. While paleo restricts some carbs, it isn’t as low-carb as keto – it allows some carbs in the forms of wholefoods like fruit, vegetables and unrefined sweeteners.
