THIS MONTH JAMIE McKELVIE, COMIC BOOK WRITER/ ARTIST EXTRAORDINAIRE, BREAKS HIS 2001: ASPACE ODYSSEY DUCK… I’M A HUGE fan of science-fiction, so I can’t really explain why I’ve never seen 2001: A Space Odyssey. Maybe because it’s so ubiquitous and has been referenced and parodied so many times, I felt like I already knew it. That’s a stumbling block from the very start. I’m so used to variations on the opening sequence – the Earth, moon and sun moving into alignment, scored dramatically by ‘Thus Spoke Zarathustra’- being played for laughs that it is hard to take it seriously.
