In the beginning there was only Garmin. Then came Wahoo, Lezyne, Bryton and a host of other cycling computer brands, and the US giant had a fight on its hands. Garmin’s 830 is an attempt to remind everyone who is boss, and does a pretty good job of it too.
Weighing just 82g on the Cyclist scales and with a relatively compact 2.6in screen, the Garmin 830 could be forgiven for having minimal mapping functionality. But as soon as the 830’s bright and colourful 246 x 322 pixel screen comes to life, it’s clear that this is one advanced piece of kit.
