Honda has always been known for its quality and durability. But for the past few years, its CRF450R’s shortcomings have outweighed its strengths. For 2017, Big Red is looking to change that with a 450 that, outside of the color red, shares very little with its predecessor.
Starting at the Unicam engine, Honda has made numerous updates for added low-, mid-, and top-end power. These changes include a moredirect downdraft intake layout, straighter port layout, and new finger rocker arm for increased valve lift, in addition to 2mm- larger intake valves, revised squish area for higher compression ratio, and reworked piston that provides better combustion efficiency.
