Amanda Butler “This apple project is a mix of traditional subjects, but with a contemporary twist, and was chiefly inspired by sentimental memories of summers gone by where my sisters and I would go to the local park with our Grandma during the long school holidays. As a treat we would have an apple each and from these scrumptious apples we saved the little seeds so that we could plant them when we got home. Out of all of the seeds we planted we were only successful once, but that little sapling is now a beautiful tree in our mother’s garden, producing plenty of apples for future generations to come. Jayne Netley Mayhew “This sweet design of two young fox cubs snoozing in the undergrowth is an easy one to stitch, as there are no fractional stitches or backstitch used, just whole cross stitch. One thing I have always done when working with a lot of different colour threads, is to lay them out neatly, so that each time you change colour you don’t have to sort through them. Arrange them in the same colour layout as the key, this saves time when you need to change thread colour or to find the right one.
