When resizing, it’s important to have an understanding of the differences between a stitch file and an object file. A stitch file is the file format that the embroidery machine reads, such as PES, VIP, JEF etc. This file contains commands for the embroidery machine to move the embroidery arm so that the stitches are created in the attached hoop: in most simplistic terms, those commands sound like go left 3mm, stitch, move 3mm, stitch, turn 90º, stitch and so forth. The commands tell the machine how to move and when to stop or jump or trim: this composes the stitch file.
