It doesn’t surprise me to read about the toddler Parker George’s fame and fortune on Instagram (News, Issue 572, page 8). It seems to me that 21st-century parents are addicted to sharing snaps of their kids online.
A friend of mine, who is otherwise quite normal, recently became a father. I’m pleased for him, but since the birth he’s posted photos of the baby in hospital, coming home in the car, going to sleep in her basket, waking up in her basket, doing her ‘business’ in her basket, and so on. At least 30 photos a day! It has the opposite effect to the one intended. I’m meant to think, ‘Aw, how sweet!’. Instead I just skip through the photos, barely noticing them.
