Social worker Sarah Joel, 37, and her husband Stephen, 38, have two children, Eilah, eight, and Zac, six. They’re going travelling for 11 months, starting in September.
Sarah says, “Prepandemic, we had discussed travelling as a family, but I thought we should wait until the children were older. Then the pandemic happened and, while other families spent time together, I was incredibly busy at work, doing long hours, and I missed out on time with the kids.
“Last December, we discussed travelling again and decided to do it. When I spoke to the children’s school, the teachers were supportive and said they’d keep in touch and guide us on the curriculum.
