As of this writing, 13 states have legalized full-scale sports betting: Arkansas, Delaware, Iowa, Indiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia. Six other states—Colorado, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Montana and Tennessee, plus the District of Columbia—have recently passed sports-wagering bills, but have yet to implement them. Legalized sports-betting bills were introduced in another 24 states, but were not passed. But states that see their citizens crossing the border to place legal sports wagers that brings in much needed tax revenue may reconsider. This is already a multibillion-dollar business in some states, and before long, hundreds of billions will be legally bet on sports in the United States.…
