Quex Holiday Park is surrounded by rural farmland which helps create a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The park is split into touring and owner-occupied holiday homes, with 50 touring pitches all having electric and are all surrounded by trees. A recent addition to the campsite’s facilities is Sally’s Kitchen, which offers sit-in, takeaway or delivered home-cooked food. The best simply got better. When RP’s Steve Young was faced with the dilemma of Mercedes-Benz discontinuing the super-high roof version of the Sprinter, he had to develop his own raised roof in order to create the necessary headroom for the Rebellion’s unique elevated rear lounge. But Steve wasn’t content with simply replicating what Mercedes had offered before. The new top had to have an OEM look to it, while increasing both headroom and storage in what many people already considered to be the ultimate in off-road, off-grid campervans. Of course, the latest Rebellion retains the USP of twin top-hinged doors at the rear. Pilote’s campervan range offers a higher spec for 2026 and its V630J is one of two new models. This is the typical single bed layout in an extra-long Fiat Ducato panel van but it has been redesigned this season to offer an extra 20 to 25% more storage in the boot. It’s the new arrangement here that’s one of the key features of the model. Open the rear barn doors and you’ll find full-width storage below the end of the beds, with no interruptions. If you need more space (for bikes, perhaps), you can flip over the end of the mattress, lift the bed base and you have a full-height garage. A BRIGHT IDEA FOR AWNINGS An innovative new lighting system for driveaway awnings has been launched by Danish camping manufacturer, Outwell. The Outwell Light System provides integrated, dimmable functional lighting in the brand’s SuperiorAirTouringmodelsfor2026. The system features a 5mm LED light strip built into the awning’s HookTrack. A soft-touch, backlit switch offers three dimmable settings (100%, 50%, 5%) and is discreetly positioned for easy use. All you need is a power source, and your tent is illuminated. Venture Caravans and Motorhomes has been named as an official dealer for Bürstner. The German manufacturer completely overhauled its product offerings for this year, announcing only three key ranges, key of which are the new B66 campervans and motorhomes, offering a fully equipped line-up at more affordable prices. The company will also offer the premium Signature low-profile and the Mercedes-based Habiton campervan with its award-winning sliding washroom. HI OK, I never intended my Cambridge/Norfolk adventure to end up a three-parter but, going back over the trip, I realise just how much we packed in. And what a fantastic trip it was! Following on from Sandringham, we made a stop in Wells-next-the-Sea for lunch on our way to our next site. What a perfectly charming seaside/harbour town it is, definitely worth a visit. I must admit I was glad to have a smaller campervan for this one as I don’t recall much parking for larger ’vans. Also, as far as I remember, most of the town centre car parks also had height barriers. We’ve never seen anything quite like this before! The showstopper at last September’s Caravan Salon Düsseldorf was the Habiton. Bürstner’s new ’van sets out to achieve the near-impossible. Its design brief was to fit the typical European fixed single bed layout (which normally resides in a 6.36m-long Fiat Ducato) into the slimmer, shorter Mercedes van. On the outside, this is a 5.93m panel van with a choice of six exterior colours (the minty green is quite brave!) and either rear or all-wheel drive. But it’s the inside that matters and, here, the usual half-dinette bench seat slides and folds (with the table rising vertically) to allow the patented washroom to also slide forward on its floor-mounted rails. We’ve renamed this category for 2026. The title of ‘Large Campervan’ no longer seemed appropriate when a medium-wheelbase Fiat Ducato is actually a tad shorter than the latest long-wheelbase Ford Transit Custom or Volkswagen T7. Here we’re focusing on high-top models that have a full walk-in washroom, so are self-contained. These are often vehicles that pop-top owners trade up to when they want more independence from campsite facilities. The word ‘large’ would have been especially inappropriate for our winner, the new baby of Auto-Trail’s Expedition campervan range. Based on the Fiat Ducato, it is only 5.41m long, so it’s an ideal size for those who want to be able to park in town and explore more out-of-the-way locations. One of the key things our judges consider when deciding on what deserves award recognition is whether there is evidence of real progression. And we’re not just talking about a new colour scheme, here, or a different type of door handle, there. To merit an award, there needs to be some significant upgrades that genuinely move the ’van on – and that’s exactly what we found with the new Jerba Cromarty. Auto-Sleepers has announced that Camper NI will be joining its dealer network. This will be the first time Northern Ireland residents can buy an Auto-Sleeper locally without having to visit the UK mainland or cross the border into the Republic. Camper NI will offer a selected range of Auto-Sleeper ’vans, including models from the Premium and Active campervan ranges. If you already own one of these vehicles, then Camper NI will now offer aftersales support for all Auto-Sleepers’ customers, with a service centre that can handle servicing and warranty work. Renault has unveiled the production version of its new Trafic Van E-Tech electric, the first model in a forthcoming family of fully electric light commercial vehicles. Set to arrive on the road in late 2026, the van has Renault’s new ‘SoftwareDefined Vehicle’ (SDV) technology, allowing its systems to receive regular upgrades. These updates can be delivered through your phone or laptop, and applied through the vehicle’s internal interface. The shift brings car software closer to the experience of updating a smartphone. The new electric Trafic Van offers a range of up to 229 miles on a single charge and debuts Renault’s new 800V fast-charging system, capable of recovering 160 miles of range in just 20 minutes. Moray Council has approved a pilot scheme for motorhome stopovers, which is planned to start in spring of this year. Last February the authority agreed to hold a public consultation on the provision of motorhome stopovers in its area and the results are in. Out of 2,216 responses, 74% or residents agreed they supported a scheme with positives and negatives suggested. 95% of non-Moray residents were in support of the scheme. The paper also recommended to run a trial in 2026. A location in Burghead was proposed as sole stopover for the pilot. It was also suggested a second location at Aberlour be trialled at the same time, but this will need to be investigated and the results presented in a meeting of the Economic Development and Infrastructure Services committee…
