On January 14 2024, images were shared on social media which appeared to show the final lengths of rail being installed on the East West Rail route between Bicester and Bletchley.
However, it wasn’t until March 7 that EWR Co, the company responsible for building the line, considered track laying to be officially complete.
A ceremony to mark the completion of track laying was attended by Rail Minister Huw Merriman and Buckingham MP Greg Smith, during which Merriman said: “This is a significant milestone for one of the country’s most important rail projects and part of this Government’s plan to invest in rail infrastructure.”
