WELCOME Hasn’t motorcycling been here before? With disruptive new brands coming in and shaking up the status quo, the proliferation of smaller capacity, cut-price bikes from China has echoes of the mid 1960s, when the Japanese manufactures first arrived in Europe. Back then, so I’m told, there was a general air of mistrust of these unknown new brands, with questions over their reliability, and even the ethics of owning one, as post-war anti-Japanese feeling was still present amongst some. However, underpinned by the philosophy of Kaizen (constant improvement via small changes), Japanese motorcycles gained buyers’ trust through reliability and quality, leading us to where we are today.
