Three years ago, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, launched Vision 2030, an economic programme that envisages a modernised country, one not dependent on oil revenue. In addition, there is a strong commitment to encouraging a more active, outdoor lifestyle. Key to this is the $100bn invested into King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC, pronounced ‘cake'), a new desert megacity which covers an area of similar size to Washington DC – home to the country's first championship golf course.
