Anything less than seven hours of rest — or more than 7.5 hours — increases the risk of dementia and lung cancer, according to a study out of Finland. “For dementia, short and long sleep disturbances and the use of sleeping pills” trigger “cognitive decline,” says Maria Luojus, author of the 20-year study, which tracked subjects aged 42 to 60.
