● Four litres of water per person, per day for ‘at least’ three days. Emily says, ‘People don’t realise how much water they actually use for drinking, cooking, cleaning, sanitation and hygiene and pets.’ Emily likes to keep two weeks’ worth on hand. Short on space? She says to consider keeping bottles in un-used suitcases, at the back of wardrobes or under your bed.
● Some ‘non-perishable’ foods that last a long time, like oats, peanut butter and granola bars.
● Basic pain medication (and extra supplies of any prescription medication) and a ‘back-up’ pair of glasses, if you wear them.
● A power bank so you can charge your phone, and a wind-up radio so you’ll still know what’s going on in the wider world.
