The Asterix comic book series has been running since 1959 and has sold more than 385 million copies worldwide. The main character, Asterix, is a brave, clever Gaul who lives in a small village during Roman times. The village’s secret is its magic potion, which gives the villagers superhuman strength and the ability to defeat invading Roman armies. Asterix’s friend Obelix doesn’t need the potion because he fell into a cauldron full of it as a baby and has lifelong super-strength.
