For those of us not renowned enough to have our own Wikipedia entries, it’s hard to know what it must be like having people write about your life. For the man who founded Wikipedia, it must be even stranger.
“It’s a funny thing to have a Wikipedia page,” Wales admitted. “Sometimes people come to me and they say, ‘Oh, how do I get a Wikipedia page?’ I’m like, ‘Are you sure? You might think that sounds great, but it might not be so great.’”
Wales has been criticised for attempting to edit his own Wikipedia page. One of the site’s five pillars is that “Wikipedia has no firm rules”, but the site’s guidelines “strongly discourage” conflict of interest editing, which involves “contributing to Wikipedia articles about yourself, family, friends, clients,…
