Toe woe Q I have an ingrown toenail that hurts whenever I put on my shoes. What can I do? Siobhan, Croydon A Ingrown toenails can be very painful, but there are ways to alleviate the discomfort. Start by soaking your foot in warm, soapy water to soften the nail and reduce swelling. Then gently lift the edge of the ingrown nail using a clean, sterilised tool, to relieve pressure.
